Workshop Agenda:

  1. Hardware in Loop – from Concept to Practice for validation of Embedded Controllers
  2. Driving Spectrum Superiority with the RF Hardware in Loop concept for Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations
  3. A true Iron Bird or Mission System Integration rig – with all Electro-mechanical, Electronics and RF Systems

Abstracts for Talks:

Modern space and defence platforms—from spacecraft and launch vehicles to manned and unmanned aircraft—integrate tightly coupled avionics, propulsion and RF subsystems that must operate in congested and contested electromagnetic environments. Hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing connects real controllers and embedded computers to real‑time simulations of the surrounding physical system, enabling early, repeatable validation of embedded software and system behaviour without waiting for full prototypes or range access

This workshop shows how to extend classical controller‑centric HIL to RF subsystems and build end‑to‑end mission‑level simulation benches that bring the complete space or defence system into the lab, shifting system‑level verification much earlier in the lifecycle and reducing dependence on expensive, risk‑prone range campaigns. Participants will learn how a modular PXI‑based platform combines wideband RF instrumentation and real‑time simulation to generate high‑fidelity, dynamic RF environments—including multi‑emitter threat scenarios, radar target emulation and record‑and‑playback of complex IQ data—synchronised with full avionics and flight‑dynamics simulation. By integrating FPGA‑based signal processing and custom EW / COMINT algorithms into this loop, engineers can rigorously validate ELINT/COMINT receivers, cognitive radio payloads and broader EMSO capabilities against realistic, repeatable threats in the safety of the lab, accelerating delivery of mission‑ready systems while significantly reducing cost and risk

Mr. Abhishek Tiwari

Mr. Abhishek Tiwari is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defence sector. As a Principal Business Manager at National Instruments (NI), he drives strategic growth across radar, electronic warfare (EW), communications, navigation, surveillance, and RF test applications for aerospace and defense customers in the APAC region. Abhishek focuses on expanding NI’s market presence by cultivating key partnerships and aligning advanced test solutions with evolving industry demands.

Prior to NI, Abhishek served as a Product Manager at MathWorks, where he led strategy and product development for antenna, RF, radar, and sensor fusion products, working closely with engineers across 5G and EW domains. Earlier in his career, he contributed to the development of radar hardware and software systems at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), DRDO, specializing in mission-critical radar and radio systems for Indian defence programs. Abhishek holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics and telecommunication from NIT Raipur and an MBA in Leadership and Strategy from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.

Mr. Vinit Bansal

Vinit Bansal brings over 12 years of experience at the intersection of aerospace, defence, and advanced electronics. He graduated in Electronics from BITS Pilani in 2014 and joined National Instruments (NI), where he began as an Applications Engineer and later progressed to a Field Technical Consultant, supporting complex test and validation projects across satellites, ground stations, and semiconductor applications.

In 2023, Vinit co‑founded PierSight Space and served as CTO, architecting Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite platforms and leading the successful launch of the company’s first technology‑demonstrator satellite.

After scaling the startup, Vinit rejoined National Instruments in 2025 as Principal Business Manager for Aerospace and Defence, where he now acts as a Subject Matter Expert and drives growth strategy across APAC, focusing on electronics and electromechanical test and validation systems for next‑generation space, aerospace, and defence programs.
