IEEE SPACE 2026 • Showcase your groundbreaking research in just three minutes

What is 3 Min?

The 3 Minute Thesis Competition offers an exciting opportunity for PhD students to present their research in Space, Aerospace, and Defence to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.

In just three minutes and across four slides, contestants must clearly communicate innovative ideas, research insights, and real-world impact in a compelling and accessible manner.

Goals of 3 Min

This competition aims to spark broader interest in the applications of Space, Aerospace, and Defence technologies while reviving public fascination with their transformative potential.

Participants will enhance public understanding of advancements in these fields and highlight their real-world implications through concise and engaging presentations.

How is it Judged & How to Prepare?

A panel of experts will evaluate presentations based on:

  • Clarity of the problem statement
  • Relevance to the Space, Aerospace, and Defence community
  • Research excellence demonstrated
  • Engagement and communication effectiveness

Participants are encouraged to prepare a succinct, impactful presentation that clearly conveys the importance and innovation of their work.

Who Can Participate?

IEEE student members nearing completion of their PhD are encouraged to participate and present their research on a national platform.

Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your work, gain valuable experience, and build confidence while presenting to a distinguished audience.

Application Procedure

  1. Submit a title and brief explanation (maximum two pages) including introduction, research gap, work carried out, practical applications, and importance.
  2. Submit a short biography with expected graduation date (maximum two pages). Include conference papers, research awards, research projects, journal publications (published/submitted), and funding details.
  3. Provide a No Objection Letter from your Supervisor confirming approval for presenting your thesis work.
  4. Candidates will not be considered after their thesis defence seminar.

Prizes & Recognition

Top 3 contenders will receive:

  • 🥇 First Prize – ₹10,000
  • 🥈 Second Prize – ₹7,000
  • 🥉 Third Prize – ₹5,000

All selected participants will receive complimentary conference registration. Students will also be reimbursed for sleeper class train fare (to and fro).

Selection Process

Up to 30 candidates will be selected to participate in the 3 Minute Thesis Competition at IEEE SPACE 2026.
