What is in 3 Min?
3 Min offers an exciting chance for PhD students and young professionals to showcase their research in Space, Aerospace, and Defence to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. In three minutes and across four slides, contestants will engage their audience with innovative concepts and groundbreaking discoveries.

Goals of 3 Min?
This Competition aims to spark interest in the extensive applications of Space, Aerospace, and defence technologies while bringing back public fascination with their transformative potential. Sharing your research will enhance the overall understanding of advancements in space, aerospace, and defence and their real-world implications.

How is it Judged, and How to Prepare?
A panel of experts will assess presentations based on the clarity of the problem statement, relevance to the Space, Aerospace, and Defence community, and the research excellence demonstrated. Get ready to captivate your audience with a succinct and engaging presentation that clearly highlights the importance of your research.

Who can Participate?
All IEEE student members nearing their PhD completion are encouraged to participate and showcase their research on a national platform. Don’t miss this chance to showcase your work, gain valuable experience, and boost your confidence!

Prizes and Recognition:
Top 3 contenders will vie for prestigious awards. Including

  • 1st Prize: 10,000/-
  • 2nd Prize: 7,000/-
  • 3rd Prize: 5,000/-

All participants will receive complimentary registration, promoting full engagement in this wonderful event. Students selected for this event will be reimbursed for their sleeper class train fare (both onward and return) to attend.

Application Procedure:

  1. Submit a title and brief explanation of your research work (no more than two pages), including an introduction, research gap, research carried out, practical applications, and importance.
  2. Submit a summary of your research activities, along with a brief biography and your expected graduation date. The submission should not exceed two pages and must include a list of conference papers, research awards, research projects, journals (either published or submitted), and funding information.
  3. Letter of recommendation from Supervisor: Provide a letter of recommendation from your supervisor that clearly states they have no objections to your thesis work being presented to a national audience.
  4. The candidature will not be taken into account following the thesis defence seminar.

Selection Process:
Up to 30 candidates will be selected to participate in the competition for the three-minute thesis at IEEE SPACE 2025.
